Palm Beach pets column by Paulette Cooper Noble. Valentine‘s gifts.
What are you giving your four-legged loved one for Valentine’s Day? There are a lot of great gifts available at our town’s local pet shops, Bibi's Doggie Boutique, OnBlonde Pet Spa and Woofgang Bakery & Grooming. But here are some additional gift ideas for this special day — for both of you.
Barkbox: Give your dog gifts each month by subscribing to BarkBox. Each month, they send you a themed box with two toys, plus two all-natural bags of treats and a chew, all chosen for your dog’s age, size, and even allergies. Subscriptions start at $22 a month. Barkbox.com; 855-520-2275.
Dogster Magazine: Here’s another subscription gift that keeps on giving. Every monthly issue is devoted to the care and enjoyment of your purebred or mixed breed dog. The magazine is filled with helpful and interesting stories, such as “Why carbs aren’t bad.” (For your dog that is; the jury’s out on you.) dogster.com; 800-896-4939
Catster Magazine: This monthly magazine is filled with interesting stories for cat owners, such as “The ABCs of CBD for Cats.” Articles focus on behavior, food, health, lifestyle, breeds and more. catster.com; 800-896-4939.
See-through backpacks: If you want your cat to go around with you while enjoying his or her surroundings, buy a see-through backpack that can be worn in front or back. Amazon sells a few of them, and some include security leashes so your cat can’t escape. But cats won’t want to because these carriers look like fun for both of you.
Deshedders: Move over Arnold Schwarzenegger — here comes the Furminator for cats. These deshedding tools remove loose hair. That helps prevent furballs — which can be dangerous and even fatal because cats may consume loose hairs when they groom themselves. Some pet shops and Amazon carry different models.
