Where's the Buzz?

Originally started as an end-of-the-north-swell-season Valentine’s Day fun and flippant beach party, the 8th annual Single & Unattached Invitational kicks off this month at the seaside surfing mecca of San Juan, La Union. Bringing in surfers loggers from all over the globe including Australia, Hawaii, Japan, Indonesia, and the USA. A six day competition starts on February 3 until February 8th, with a massive Beach Clean Up happening on the 9th to ensure that San Juan Beach is returned to its usually pristine condition before everyone heads home.

If beach parties aren’t you’re thing, bring the family over to Lio Beach in El Nido, Palawan where you can experience unique encounters with nature in a pristine four-kilometer stretch of ivory sand in an Ayala Land community in El Nido, Palawan. Carefully planned as a natural playground for the entire family, this vacation destination is also the perfect place to teach kids how to love nature. Bond over numerous Lio Beach activities like an obstacle course that simulates the struggles of marine life with ocean trash instill a desire among guests to care for the environment. Kayaking at the lagoon highlighted by the screeches of the Palawan hornbill and other wildlife sounds also fosters an appreciation for the surrounding flora and fauna. During special times of the year, families likewise have the chance to actually witness sea turtles hatch and find their way to the ocean for the first time. Sports like volleyball, soccer, football and frisbee can also be enjoyed in their sand playing field.  And get your shopping fix at the nearby Kalye Artisano which features the arts and crafts of Palawan artists.

It’s also that time of the year when jetsetting Pinoys can plot out which item to cross out of their travel bucket list as world-leading travel and activities and services booking platform Klook reveals the top Asian travel destinations for the year. Based on Klook’s internal booking data, Filipinos bitten by the travel bug are most interested in visiting destinations like Ho Chi Minh, Siem Reap, Hanoi & Halong Bay, and Pattaya this year. Aside from these Southeast Asian cities, Shanghai, Kyoto, Gyeonggi-do, and Dubai are also cited as part of Filipinos’ travel bucket list for the year. And while Asia appears to be a preferred area for Filipinos, Klook’s data uncovered that Filipinos are becoming more open to exploring other countries beyond Asia like Paris, France and Sydney, Australia this year.

What's The Buzz?

With the impressive showing of local athletes at the recent 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines, Ajinomoto continues its support to help Filipinos perform better and last longer in sports with the launch of their aminoVITAL® Sports Series. Just like the world record breaking performance of the members of the Philippine National Obstacles Course Racing (OCR) Team and karate gold medalist Junna Tsukii, reach your full potential by reducing fatigue and muscle loss by taking in the right amount of amino acids before and after your workout. Ajinomoto’s new jelly-based drink contains 3,000mg of amino acids, including BCAA (Branched Chain Amino Acid) is perfect for high-intensity workouts and other strenuous physical activities.

Look good while working those muscles as you Move with Purpose with GapFit, the newest active wear collection of Gap in the Philippines. Launched last January 31, their breathable and stylish leggings can take you from studio to street, with sports bras with strappy tank straps that provide a full range of movement.

No outfit is complete without the right pair of running shoes to get you literally up and running. Working on the potential of reducing runner injury, and its newest running shoe, this year Nike brings us the Nike React Infinity Run, a fine-tuned blend of biomechanical efficiency and cushioning—for a breakthrough shoe that offers a more democratic solution to stability, and an advance from traditional motion-control designs. The Infinity Run provides a soft, responsive platform and delivers it with a widened midsole with rocker-like bottom that yields a more fluid transition from foot strike to toe off. The wider platform, and the supportive foam that accompanies it, provides a reassuring feel—the shoe gently guides the foot in a smooth, straight line, reducing side-to-side wobbling and movement. Start and end your run on a high note with footwear that doesn’t fall into the silo of interval or tempo, long run, or race. This shoe matches best to base-run days, those middle-mileage, moderate efforts.
