Special Lent activities planned
Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, invites the community to begin the Lenten journey at one of two Ash Wednesday Communion Services this coming Wednesday, Feb. 26, the first of three special activities this Lent. An 11 a.m. service is designed for those available during the day in addition to the traditional 7 p.m. service held in the evening.
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent, a time to examine personal faith journeys and to recommit lives to the Lord. The imposition of ashes, a reminder of human mortality and of cleansing, will be offered as part of each service.
The second activity is Lenten Small Groups, formed to study the lectionary readings for each coming weekend with family and friends, with a focus on the Gospel reading. The groups will meet at a variety of times and places. Please contact Michelle Vanderzyden, 419-651-1564, or email michelle@trinityashland.org for more information or to sign up for a group.
The third activity is a series of Lenten Vespers, evening prayer services held on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. beginning on March 5. The meditation for each service will be the appointed psalm for the upcoming weekend.
